한국영화나 드라마를 보다보면 꼰대라는 말이 나오곤 합니다.
꼰대야?
꼰대짓하지마.
꼰대같아.
꼰대가 되지 마세요.
꼰대 문화 너무 싫어요.
그런데 꼰대가 뭘까요? 네이버 사전에 보면 꼰대란 은어로 '늙은이' 또는 '선생님'을 이르는 말이에요. 좋은 의미는 아닙니다. 주로 자신의 생각이나 방식이 항상 옳다고 생각하는 권위적인 사람을 말해요. 저는 꼰대가 되고 싶지 않은데, 나이가 들면 자연스럽게 꼰대가 될까요?
꼰대가 되지 않으려면 학생이 되라고 하네요. 학교에서 공부하는 학생이 아니라 늙어서도 늘 책을 가까이 하고 배우는 자세를 가진 학생이요.
"우리 선생님은 꼰대야." 이런 말 듣지 않으려면 열심히 공부해야겠습니다.

But what exactly is a 'ggondae'? According to Naver Dictionary, ggondae is a slang term referring to an 'old person' or 'teacher.' It's not a positive term. It usually refers to authoritative individuals who always think their own thoughts or ways are correct. I don't want to become a ggondae, but as I age, will I naturally become one?
To avoid becoming a ggondae, people say you should remain a student. Not just a student in school, but someone who, even as they grow older, keeps books close and maintains a learning attitude.
"Our teacher is a ggondae." To avoid hearing this kind of expression from my students, I should keep learning.
