'부딪치다' (buditchida) and '부딪히다' (budithida) are two words that we often confuse in Korean.

They sound similar and both originate from the verb '부딪다' (buditda), which means to collide or face a certain situation.

It's relatively easy to differentiate if you think of the movement of the subject.

If the subject is in motion when the collision occurs, you use '부딪치다' (buditchida). If the subject is stationary, we use '부딪히다' (budithida).

Examples:

(Correct)
(I bumped into a bike while looking at my phone while walking). (Correct)
(The ship collided with the iceberg and sank). (Correct)
(He went bankrupt due to economic difficulties) (incorrect) -> 그는 경제적 난관에 부딪혀 파산했다. (Correct)
