In 1949, Korea's total population was 20 million. By 1967, it had increased to 30 million, and by 1983, it had reached 40 million. As of 2020, the population exceeds 50 million. The most populous region in Korea is Gyeonggi Province, with approximately 13.3 million people. The number of foreigners living in Korea is also increasing, and more than 169,000 people have changed their nationality to Korean as of 2017.
